The Choice
By
Eliyahu M Goldratt
The author has written this complete
book narrating the
discussions and conversations between father and daughter.
The discussions are intense, interesting , captivating and leave the reader in total awe as to how optimistic, creative and brilliant a person can be and if the mind is applied to finding solutions to problems there are huge possibilities .
Even if an organization is performing better than others in the same market it can still increase not once but twice and thrice on its own
performance.
The theme of the book is simple and it states that ‘knowing the cause and effects that govern a situation is the best preparation.’
It says that the biggest obstacle in the path of success is that people grasp reality as complex when actually it’s surprisingly simple.
The three major obstacles to success a pointed out in the book are
1) The obstacle of viewing reality as complex,
2) Accepting conflicts as given and
3) The tendency to blame the other person.
The million dollar question that the author leaves the reader to think about is
“If everything including situations that are already good, can be substantially improved, doesn’t it imply that there are opportunities all around us”
At the end it’s a book that makes it clear that the choices on has and if they are used can make an unthinkable difference to performance.
