Celeb and The City: Deepika Padukone says....
To day Deepika Padupone is with us!... she writes for this
column. regularly . To day let us see that what she says about ' life on the runway'.
She says" looking at the life-size pictures of the models strutting on the runway brings back fond memories of my life in the fashion circuit. Wow that beautiful days ... I get nostalgic even at the very mention of weeks. But each fashion show I did as a model was spacial in it's own right.
Since the mens week came to an end in Delhi last week and the fashion week in Mumbai starts this friday. I am suddenly reminded of the crazy dynamics that constituted my life back then. It's funny that how this industry works. From mek-up and choreography to fittings and the catwalk, every thing is timed. Talk about working under strict eadlines! I remember running around with fellow models from pillar to post at the fashon weeks. But I'm glade I did that; for all that madness discioplined me as a professional" .Wow Deepika....Hindustan bol raha hai......
She says furthur.... " I remember hanging out with friends from the fash frat in the green room, catching up on slaap in between shows and waxing eloguent about garments and looks. My life as model was eventful to say the least. And I loved every moment of it. While it brought along high-tension moments like those of walking the runway infront of hundreds. I made many friends during that time. "
Deepika is very hardworking girl. She says.." I have done two fashon weeks in all and had fun at all shows I 've been a part of . The designers whose garments I used to spoet on the runway now design for my films. The camaraderie I shared with them as a model has now blossomed into a beatiful bond of friendship. I can depend on a few for a lot now. The fashio world, unlike common perception, is quite demanding. It does run on high voltage drama but the ones calling the shots are earnest and dedicated . Since the fashon pundits thrive on creativity, their passion for excellence overshadows everything else. Ands thats what I love the most about this field.
I remember telling you all abot my life as a badminton player in an earlier column. The high I experienced as a sportperson was similar to th one I did as a model. To tell you a secret , I always idiolised supermodels as school kid. I alwys aspired to become a model. I am glad I did, for it was at one of the fashion shows that Farah Khan noticed me and offered ' Om shanti Om with Shah Rukh Khan !
.... In this way modelling tought me a lot-confidenc and dedication . Oh God, if only I could relive those times!"
