365 Outdoor Activities You Can Do With Your Child
At home with your kids? Babysitting, or a kid with your brother or sister with you, and wondering what to do? Just want to have some fun with nieces or nephews or your girl/boyfriend''s kids? This IS the
BOOK FOR YOU. There are even some
activities to include the neighbor kids, or your kids'' friends.
The book begins with a cartoon pictorial table of contents (with verbal labels) followed by a short introduction. (This book is a sequel to the authors'' first book: 365 TV-FREE ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR
CHILD.) The authors remark that the feedback they received is NOT generally of an anti-TV sort, but more a desire for ways to improve the quality of family time together.
There is a strong emphasis on safety, both general tips on safety in the introduction and in each
activity section where some particular caution is necessary.
The 365 outdoor activities are listed by title alphabetically--one page per activity. There are activities for every season of the year; for city, beach, country, parks and more; natural and/or simple man-made materials; some activities requiring one adult and one or more
children, others needing several people to
play, exercise, or
learn with.
In the back of the book is a list of activities by type. There are blank pages (which one could reproduce or copy) for one''s own activities to be added (any ones not listed) and activity logs, where one can record various activities completed, with date, time, and other circumstances.
Finally, there is a discussion of where the authors are coming from, and a list of books and a website where one can pursue further the away-from-TV movement and ideas.
