Who Moved My Cheese?
This book tells a story about two mice (Sniff and Scurry) and two little people (Hem and Haw) who live in a maze and how each of them deals with
change when "suddenly" there is no longer cheese where it always used to be.
Sometimes we can sniff out changes coming and maybe scurry to find the new cheese because we not only expect things to change, but are willing to roll with the changes as they come.
More often we hem and haw about the change and don't see how we can deal with the change at all, holding on to things that are no longer there. We cannot move on to new cheese, even if it is bigger and better, until we let go of the old.
Even though this book is about how to deal with change happening to you, I found that it made me think about changes I should be making in my life but for some reason haven't done. One example would be my obesity. Am I holding on to it because I don't believe there is any other "cheese" out there? Maybe no matter what I do this is the cheese I was dealt and I can't do anything about it. If I don't try to find better new cheese (a healthy lifestyle) will I end up dealing with worse new cheese such as Diabetes?
Because this thought came to me after finishing the book I plan to re-read it with that thought in mind and find old beliefs that are holding me back. Haw could not move on until he laughed at himself and saw that fear was keeping him frozen in place, where things would only get worse.
I'm ready to find my New Cheese, I hope you are too!
