LIFE SEEMS LIKE A SERIES OF FLASHES...on the very night he was to have a more profound affair with his girlfriend, Johnny suffers an accident and slips into a coma which robs him of more than 4 years of life. The years go by while he remains tied to a hospital bed like a parasite consuming his parents'' bank account. His mother, obsessed with a strange sect that envisions the coming of Christ in a space vehicle, is on the verge of madness and an easy prey to false prophets. One day, Johnny responds...At first, the changes are almost unnoticeable, but when his supernatural powers manifest themselves, a sort of Extra Sensory Perception like in Susy Smith''s book by the same name, he discovers that he can see future events with unbelievable accuracy; however he has no power over when they will occur. It''s magical. And so he''s able to save his nurse''s life and trap the town''s child assassin. But when he realizes that an old Bible salesman, turned politician, is to be the next President of the United States and that during his term a nuclear war will erupt (a vision he has just by holding the man''s hand), he decides to act on a rash impulse. During a riot, hiding out on a select, unguarded rooftop, he aims his automatic rifle at the candidate .Although the bodyguards kill Johnny, a photo taken of the candidate showing him using a child as a human shield strips him of any chance of being elected and leaves him thoroughly discredited. Johnny dies riddled with bullets but has fulfilled his duty...The dead zone is that part of Destiny which is not revealed in his premonitions...
