One of the very first novels i read in my life, till now i remember that as if i had read it yesterday. Yes that is how much i have enjoyed the novel. Tracy Whitney is one(hell of a) character which i''ll never forget. May be this is what they say,"the first impression is the best impression"
Even the first of the ''first impression'' is really good with the death of Mrs.Whitney in the prologue. From that point there is no stopping the pace of the story.
Tracy who is engaged to the heir of fortunes and carrying his life within her, is shattered with the news of her mother''s death. She comes to know that her mother has been tricked into selling her business. Furious, on hearing this, she actually buys a gun and goes to force the bad guy into accepting the truth. Things take an U turn and she ends up in jail.
This is where the story actually begins. Sheldon(god bless his soul) proves again why he is the master storyteller with the narration of the inceidents in the jail.
Later she is released for good conduct(she saves the kid of the warden, dumping her plans to escape) and with the help of her jail foster mother and her boy friend, wrecks the life of the people who are behind the death of her mother and for ruining her life.
With no one ready to employ her, she indulges into robbery out of desperation, where she was surprised by her own talent in this field.
Something which starts as the means to stay alive later turns into passion and there is no stopping her unless Jeff Stevens enters her life(and later manages to enter into her.....heart). A competition starts and they are now stealing for pride.
Finally they end up together getting engaged and still they cant stop.
A typical Sheldon class novel, it does have a lot of masala, which is not new for Sidney Sheldon.
A real entertainer, especially the way both them steal, it makes for a good page turning stuff.
A novel worth reading for some nice entertainment..
