Jonathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach
Jonathon Livingston Seagull is a compelling story about the triumph of the will to win. Jonathon is a fledgling in a flock of seagulls who lead a hand to mouth existence. Jonathon wants to do more than just exist. He wants to live. He finds flight enlivening(seagulls are low-flying birds) and decides to pursue it much against his father’s wishes. The other gulls feel that he spends all his time practicing to fly whereas he should’ve been learning to fish. He was thus considered a parasite and a bad influence on the others. Consequently, he is ostracized. Undeterred, Jonathon perseveres in his efforts. A unique master appears before him and guides him till he achieves flight @ thought. He enters the realm of the universal masters, picks up his last few lessons and graduates to become a master himself. In keeping with the immutable law of the universe, he returns to his flock and identifies another budding ‘Jonathon’ and helps him to reach the very pinnacle of excellence that he has achieved for himself.
