Native Son
Native Son is a novel by Richard Wright which talks about an African American, whose name is Bigger Thomas, who commits a murder as an indirect result of the segregation between the African Americans & the white race. The Novel is divided into Three Books, Fear, Flight, Fate, each book talks about a phase of the novel. The first book talks about Bigger's Fear from the Whites until he kills the white lady. Then, Book Two is about the flight that he makes, from his attempt to hide the murder, to a second murder he commits and finally his escape from the police and capture. Finally, the third book talks about the trial of Bigger and how does he feel about his relation with the whites, and his conclusion that he should treat a white person as an individual not as a phenomena. The novel focus about other aspect of the American culture at that era, which is the communism danger and how it was represented negatively, by blaming the communists for everything that Bigger done, but the irony is that those who blame the communists are the people who pushed Bigger to kill that lady. This is a great Novel for those who want to live in the 1940's and see the relation between Blacks, Whites, and Communists.
