Modiain(The Grocer's Wife)is one of the shortest novels written by Bisheshwor Prasad Koirala i,e.B.P.Koirala.He was the 24th prime minister of Nepal. This novel is the story of a grocer's wife living in the age of Mahabharata.Koiral, through this novel tries to find out the recognition mentality of a widow.

The whole world is an illusion,so life and death are the natural and meaningless phenomena. We are the instruments of God,we just came to serve our duties. But personally B.P.was against these philosophy. That's why he reveals that the real observance occurs in the duty and discipline of life.

Adding the theme of Hindu Mythology and the concrete analysis of Bhagwat Geeta,Koirala has given an good instance of powerful satire against war.He concludes that war is not a solution of anything. So Modiain appeals'Be good ,no need to be great".Koirala has found the war unjustifiable and cruel which devasts thousands of lives leaving behind another thousands of lives in wails and sorrows.

In accordance with the novel, the human life is for others service. The sacrifices and appropriate compromises make a human strong to fight the evils of life and obstacles.

In this way,Koirala has closely read the woman's mind  with the help of this novel.
