"Rage of Angels" is a book written by Sidney Sheldon.
This novel is a drama, an enjoyable story that revolves around the legal profession. It also gives an insight into the operations and the world of that dreaded Mafia.
Jennifer Parker is the main character. The setting is in New York's Manhattan. Jennifer has just graduated from law school. Within her first few hours as an attorney she makes an unfortunate mistake, which loses a major case against the Mafia. This earns her the ire of the prosecuting attorney, Robert Di Silva, an ambitious man with no compassion for anyone or anything. As Jennifer struggles with her career, Di Silva is there every step of the way to seek revenge.
On the personal level, Jennifer has other challenges. There are two powerful men who are drawn to her irresistibly, and she finds herself attracted to them. The infamous, rising star of the Mafia, Michael Moretti, is one of them, and the other is Adam Warner, a prominent lawyer into his early signs of a successful career in politics.
When disaster strikes, it is Moretti who saves Jennifer from her ultimate nightmare. Then, what starts as a small favour of gratitude, becomes Jennifer's irrevocable involvement with Moretti, and the Mafia. Once in, there's no way out.
Jennifer becomes enmeshed with Moretti and Adam, both in her public and personal life.
Without revealing the details of the story, the plot thickens as action heats up when Adam and Michael try to destroy each other, with Jennifer torn and confused by her roller coaster loyalties for both men, and to an extent, love. And she has definitely valid reasons to be.
It is a compelling and absorbing read, and for those who love court cases, this is a thrilling read, another insight to organized crimes and how they operate. For others who dote on happy endings, try to have an open mind as Sheldon's characters emerge brilliantly to life's realities.
