I noticed recently that in the plan of one of our major publishshing companies
is to publish the science fiction novel “Snow Crash” by Neal Stephenson. What I enjoyed very much.
There are at least two reasons for this:
- Science fiction writer Neal Stephenson is an exceptional, having an extraordinary inventiveness, which was published by this company only one novel (”The Diamond Age”)
- “Snow Crash” is itself a great novel, a stunning beauty and a topical (although it was first published in 1992 by onother publishing company).
“Snow Crash” is a culmination of the current from the science fiction called the cyber-punk, namely, that literary current which is analysing the alienation of the human race under the burden of over-tehnology, globalization and the industrial pollution that followed.
But unlike most other authors, Neal Stephenson is by definition an optimist - which means that in this novel you will have the opportunity to see in action the classic confrontation between good and evil that ends well, though not without adventure …
Speaking of adventures, “Snow Crash” is the perfect book for programmers.
Neal Stephenson creates a virtual world that exceeds the real and the real world it is neither too far from a perfect science fiction.
The main character (Hiro Protagonist) is a delivery boy for the most profitable and hottest company in the U.S., CosaNostra Pizza Inc., owned course of our mutual friends in Italy.
In Metavers, a kind of advanced SecondLife (otherwise if you did not know from there was inspired Second Life!), he is one of senior programmers, who easily mastered the medium.
It will not tell you what is Snow Crash itself, I will only say that reading the book will bring many surprises, from the federalization of U.S. to jail and to watch dogs that fly hundreds of kilometers per hour.
It is an amazing and entertaining book that will invite you to read - I really liked it!
