Shrimati Sudha Murthy, writer, social activist, a philanthropist and above all the wife of Shri Narayan Murthy, Infosys founder. She belongs to the state of Karnataka and being a computer scientist, she has also contributed to the early days of Infosys. She did a lot of social work throughout Infosys.
She has written many books which are simple and about real characters. Most of her works are based on her own life experiences. The books read by me are Mahashweta, Gently Falls the Baluka, The Old Man and his God, How I Taught my Grandmother to Read, and more. The language is easy to read and understand, in big alphabets easily readable and above all interesting. All her books have a moral lesson behind them.
In her book, ‘The Old Man and his God’ is a collection of short stories in which she describes her own experiences and learning’s from each. Having traveled in South of India she met and experienced the daily simple lives of the common man and how they happily deal with all their problems.
She has been awarded ‘Padma Shri’ award and ‘Raja Lakshmi’ award for her literary and philanthropic tasks.
I have loved reading all her books and wish she continues writing more such lovely books on the simple ways of life.
