Ganki is a novel which is primarily written in Newari language. It was later translated into Nepali language in 1958. " Dhuswan Sayami " is the author .
Ganki is the story of a woman who at present living with her brother , sister in law and daughter in law whom she loves too much and she know she is being adored by them for ever . Her imagination shatters down when she comes to know that her brother along with his wife and daughter want to leave her house , and they are looking for an apartment to live.
She feels nostalgic and remembers her childhood days . She reminds her rich family . ' Madan Ba ' who molested her and had sexual relationship with her when she was 12 that led to her pregnancy .
She couldn't forget her drunkard dad who used to quarrel with her mother and he was in love with a prostitute outside . He lost his money and properties for that very girl before his death .
She was forced to marry an elderly man who could never satisfy her physically as well as mentally . Then she had met Kaji who showed his interest towards her . She abandoned her husband's house and returned back to support her mother and brother .
Later Kaji started coming to see her and had sexual relationship for a period of time . Later he didn't show up and she started thinking about home tutor who used to teach her brother . She proposed him and she married with him . She left house behind in lurch .
Because of poverty her brother almost turned into a street beggar . Her mother had to struggle to live .
Her dilemmatic life had , finally , met her childhood pal Sukucha who was a driver by profession . She liked him too much eventhough she was with master ( home tutor ) . In spite of Sukucha's ignorance , she loved her too much .
The day she gathered her courage to propose her , he turned into a criminal who recently killed his taxi owner . He was imprisoned where he died without knowing her holy love for him .
In this way the story ends . Literally , Shyami wants to enlight the facts of a woman life which has been passing through various phases of sexual harrasment and dissatisfaction . He wants to reveal the truth about social villains like Madan Ba . And how the children are psychologically ruined when theyt are sexually abused , has been highlighted . Mr. Shyami shows the society's poverty and the ways of living . And how her life is full of eclipses ( Ganki ) .
