Silas Ali encountered du Boise, the white boere policeman, in a cafe, who raped his wife Lydia. Mikey was conceived - a child of rape. Rape was used by blacks and whites to suppress women militants against majority white rule in South Africa. In May 1994 Nelson Mandela was elected President of South Africa with Silas Ali involved in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and was assailaed by all parties to supress it. Lydia, a nurse, felt constrained by marriage and the awful truth of Milkey's origins.

Mikey was determined to research his origins. Coloureds were not wanted by both the whites and blacks. Mandela's successors would not tolerate coloureds in his government. Mikey sought out the Muslim origins of his grandfather whose sister wa raped by a British officer near Mumbai. Mikey's grandfather sought revenge, hanging the officer and fleeing to South Africa where he funded a Mosque.

Mikey, now Michael Ali joined the the tariqah of the Sufi organisation folowing the principles of Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi a thirteenth century mystic and poet. How could his parents create a culturally incompatible child like himself?

Michael was set on revenge his conquest of willing older women secured a handgun. Vinu's persecutor and du Boise were dispatched. Michael disappeared.

A literary experiment well worth perusing.
