The story begins as the narration of a nurse who was hired by an archaeologist to take care of his wife, Mrs. Leidner. She was a beautiful and graceful woman who was suspected of nerve breaking. The backdrop of the story was taken place in the beautiful Mesopotamia. One day, she was found dead in her bedroom by her husband. Mrs Leidner''s death brought Hercule Poirot to the scene where the investigation was carried out. From the co-worker''s statement, both Poirot and the nurse found Mrs Leidner''s dark secret. She was married to a German who was punished to death as a spy. However, there was a brother who Mrs.Leidner thought was seeking vengence for the death of his brother on her. The other co-worker especially ladies weren''t happy for her presence who easily ruined the harmony between each other because of Mrs. Leidner''s self center ego. She loved the limelight on her and so the story of her involved with a younger man at the camp turning the case upside down. Every one is suspected of capable to murder her. But why? What is the motive?
