Mrs. Polly. Tom was entrusted with the task of whitewashing the boundary wall. He tactfully got the work done with his friends and in liew of 12 numbers of marbles, broken blue glass, a cork. He played mischief and invented pleas for attending school, but failed and was forced to go to school. He developed frindship with Huckleberry Fin with identical background. His condition was more worse than Tom. Other children were asked to keep distance from him.
But children instinctively take interest in forbidden things and pursue them secretely.
Fin carried a dead cat which can cure swellings in the body. Both Tom and Fin decided to go to a cemetory at the dead of the night to examine the truth behind it. They came across Doctor Robinson, Injune Joe, and Muff Poter, instead of the ghost.The three persons had evil designs and fell out among themselves. In the ensuing scuffle, Poter become senseless and the doctor died. Tom and Fin were dumb bounded and made good their escape on the promise not the divulge it. On the following day Poter was arrested on the charges of murder. The knife at the site of the murder belonged to Poter. Joe also gave false evidence. Tom and Fin remained silent. Tom was shocked and became ill. Finally he decided to leave home and embark upon piracy. Tom, with Fin and another boy Joe Harper reached at an island, and settled there. They sighted a search boat after them and were happy at the feeling of the men towards them. At last they appeared before their relatives in a church, while obsequies were being conducted for them . All were happy at the reunion.
After some day Tom's trial began. Tom gave evidence in favour of Poter. Finally Poter was aequited. Everybody praised Tom.
After somdays Tom took with him Fin to a haunted house for hidden treasure. They found a dumb and deaf man sith a Spanish. It was found from their manner, that it was Joe in disguise pretending to give police a slip. They slept for a while, found some hidden valuables and proceeded towards Missisipi. After their departure the two boys felt as if they get a new lease of life and detected the whereabouts of Joe and his friend. They also came to know about their foul plan to chop off the nose and ear of Mrs. Doglas a widow. They took help of a Walas man and his two sons, but Joe and his friend made good an escape. Polisce was engaped to nab them. Fin got fever being afraid of them and Mrs. Doglas nursed him at her home.
Tom waited a long for Fin and went on a picnic party to cave in wild near Missisipi. Tom and Becki Thacher were way laid in the cave, and others forgot them. Everybody came to know on the following day, that they were missing. A pall of gloom prevailed.
On the other hand, Tom and Becki found Joe in the cave and were afraid of him. But Joe saves a slip. Becki and Tom arrived in the town with the help of boatmen. They nerrated their experience. Becki was the daughter of the Chief Justice, it was declared that the cave would be sealed to prevent further mishap. Tom regaining his sense told Justice Thatcher that Joe was inside the cave. The doors were opened and the dead body fo Joe was found. Tom felt safe and secured after thlis.
Tom and Fin get the hidden treasure trave in the cave. Tom handed over the gold to Polly aunty and Fin was adopted by Mrs. Doglas. But it did not end their quest for new adventures.
