Blindness by Jose Saramago

Book Review by: Anonymous

Original Author: Dan Tyrrell
What happens when a whole society goes blind? What happens when the blindness doesn''t bring darkness, but an unbareable
whiteness? Finally what happens when among all of these condemed blind there is one woman who can see, and will lead the others? You will find all of these parts in the award winning novel Blindness   by portuguese author Jose Saramago. The book is considered by many to be a representation of the society we live in. It brings to life greedyness, sexual desire, theft, and other moral issues that are stuggled with in the world today. Through the imaginary society plagued by blindess we see a gross caricature of our own lives, and the ways we live life. Hats off to Mr. Saramago for not only writing one of the best pieces of literature that I have had the pleasure to read, but also to opening our eyes to the problems in society.
