Lord

Book Review by: LaTopo

Original Author: Joao Gilberto Noll
This abstract was translated from Lord
In this astonishing novel, Joáo Gilberto Noll takes his protagonist on a trip to London where his reasons for traveling are
lost along the way:  beginning with his arrival at the airport his stay in Britain becomes an end in itself.  The the story centers on the strange and surprising mutation of the traveler, when he begins to live another life.  The radical nature of this metamorphosis  that is narrated places the text in the tradition of literature by Musil and Beckett.  Within the framework of the Londoners resistance- that go from exquisiteness to abjection and crime, the novel constructs a disquieting story, until it reaches an absolutely perturbing climax, that oscillates between a ghost story and more contemporary plot.
