Wow, what a fantastic read. I have read many, many books. Never have I read such an amazing tale on survival
and care of what is yours before. I must
thank the people at the Oprah Book Club for the recommendation.Mr McCarthy delves into our minds and paints an incredible picture. The earth is post apocalyptic. Everything has been destroyed, forests, towns, deserts, even humanity. The
novel follows a father and his son on their journey south to the ocean. On the way, the family must fend off looters, animals and other atrocities.I really liked that Mr McCarthy never named his main characters. It made the read a more personal experience. It was like a memory, I have of going to the woods with my own family when I was younger.I laughed and cried with the man and his son.The boy was so inquisitive and intuitive, it made the book even more enjoyable. They are so scared of running into other people, that when they do, the man and his son run and hide. At one point they are chased by men with guns and they have to stay hidden till all is clear. The entire time my heart was racing.Good vs evil. That age old philosophy so prevalent in this tale.Thank you Mr McCarthy for writing such a poignant novel.
