Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace: The Self-Example Setting for Holistic Transformations as Philselfology

Book Review by: Bhagouauty

Original Author: Bhagouauty
In the novel, War and Peace, we experience the self-felt feelings, which evoke the creative thinking and the transformation,
which Martin experiences, while serving. The question is why we cannot go through the same transformations, though we can feel and always want it holistically in our life. It appears that we lack the creative thinking with the scientific feelings. In the creative thinking, we experience our emotions as the scientific feelings with self involved in it holistically.
I felt the need and gave it a name for simplification, the Philselfology. Martin has self as we all have, he could philosophize all that he read in the Holy Bible, but he has the scientific feelings, the feelings for action. When we have the non-scientific feelings, we may laugh and cry, while reading a book or viewing a movie, but in our real life, it does not usually happen. He understood the psychology of the self, and brought the philosophy into the practical shape.
It is not difficult; we may easily philosophize and psychologically analyze, but the self-hunger, it does not meet others to feed the holistic thirst, the desire to feel quenched when someone else eats and drinks what we offer as Martin offered to the soldier.
The soldier needs tea and hot water, and when he received it, it was the holistic, the philosophy, science and psychology of the self as an art of holistic living. This is the Philselfological factor in the novel. We can feed our self with great theories and philosophies and listen our voice of conscience for guidance for all that is present in psychological forms, but the self seems to have the Philselfological need, the holistic transformations bonding of self with service, the self-surrender to service not just having good thoughts, ideas and the feelings.
