Four friends,among them -the
author, find themselves for one week in one of the
so expensive Mediteranean islands so
dear to Mr Ormesson. Edgar received by the post office a manuscript in the shape of two books from a certain Simon Laquedem, chosen by God to receive his instructions, like at one time Moïse.
God appears each day in the dreams of Simon and speaks to him about
the
world. Occasion for Jean d''Ormesson to evoke once more topics dear to his heart: the Big-bang,the space,light, time - this future which becomes present then elapses in a split second - history, the place of man in the universe, love, etc. The four accomplices read in turn the manuscript of Simon and deliver their opinion.
Even if this novel does not teach us anything new as the
author already wrote on all these subjects in its last books, one reads Jean d'' Ormesson with the Same happiness always.
