The one line story of it is arousal of
conscience.
An aristocratic Russian youth Prince Nehludov, happened to be in
the jury to prosecute a lady
murderer. He recognized her, she was
earlier cheated by him.That incident made her prostitute first and
later a murderer. His
conscience started to trouble him and he decided
to save her at any cost. During the course he starts to think about him
and his life.All that forced him to remove the masks that he wore
unknowingly. His life changed a lot.Initially it was quite difficult to
him, but he over came all the hurdles.
He couldn''t save her from imprisonment and he accompanied her to Siberia.
Certainly this novel is not a great one of Tolstoy but I like this novel too much.
