THE LION,THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe holds
in it an adventure for the four little Pevensie kids, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. The Pevensie kids have to leave London during the war because of the air-raids and were sent to the house of an old Professor. He lived alone in the house with a housekeeper and three servants.
The Professor himself was a very old man with shaggy white hair. The children liked him but he spent most of the day in his study. The result was the bordom that sets on the children on their first day at Professor''s house. So the four children start exploring the house. The Professor''s house was very huge. It had a room with a single wardrobe in it. While the other three chidren set to explore the rest of the house, Lucy stays in the room and opens the wardrobe. She finds that the wardrobe has fur coats inside it. Lucy steps inside the cupboard.
Lucy meets a faun on reaching Narnia. From the waist upwards he was like a man, but his legs were shaped like a goat''s with glossy black hair on them. He had goat''s hoofs. He also had a tail.
The story of Narnia was very strange and no one believed her. But one day Edmund ended up in Narnia. There he met the White Witch who gave him her magical Turkish Delight which made you want it once more and told him to bring his sisters and brothers to her palace when he visited next time. He really liked her. Just to be superior he denied that he had been to Narnia. To be sure that Lucy wasn''t mad, Peter and Susan talk to the Professor, but he confused them with his own philosophy.
Soon Peter and Susan found that Lucy was saying the truth. They had somehow reached Narnia. They, there, found a beaver who tod them everything. He told them that the four children had to sit on the throne of Caire Paravel to finish the witch''s rule and that a great lion, Aslan could finish the witch''s magic. On hearing this, Edmund sneaked to the witch. Instead of treating Edmund nicely, she abondoned him. There the three children set out alone with Mr. and Mrs.Beaver to the stone table, where they would meet Aslan. They have to live in caves at night and travel during day. Edmund is treated as a slave by the witch. At long last, all the five of them reach the stone table and join Aslan. There Edmund hopes to reach the others soon. Fortunately, he gets a chance to get away and sneaks over to the stone table. Aslan accepts his apologies and Edmund joins them. But soon after that the witch visits Aslan and they talk over about how Edmund can be saved and still the Deep Magic is not broken. They move from the stone table.
A night spent on the ground was uncomfortable for Lucy and Susan so they catch up with Aslan going somewhere. They hide behind the bushes on Aslan''s orders and witness Aslan at the stone table being abondoned by the witch''s army. Then they kill him. But long after they had gone, Aslan wakes up again and explains to the sobbing girls about the Deeper Magic. Then they go to the witch''s palace and recover those who had been made stone. Then they all join the battle. The witch dies and they win.
They rule over Narnia for over thirty years. But one day while hunting for the White Stag, they tumble down out of the wardrobe and into the room. They were no longer kings or queens buves again, and Narnia was now just a memory. But as the Professor says, this is the start of a new adventure!
