The movie that rocked me and my vision upside down… Spellbound by the casts that ‘Perfume’ shed on me, it was like I am somewhere
between heaven and earth. With a myriad of all the human senses, it was after watching this epic I realized in a true sense the real meaning of the word blessing. The story revolves around Grenouille, born in a fish market in Paris before the French Revolution in 1700’s to a lady who made all the attempts to kill while he was a new born. His childhood spent in an orphanage, where the only thing he was concerned about was the ‘smell’ not limited to
fragrance. Grenouille is blessed to have an extraordinary sense of smelling even the faintest
natural things. What I like in the movie is that passion and courage of Grenouille that escorted him to excel in his field of interest that is perfume. The way he captures all the 13 perfume notes by killing selective virgins is fascinating. However the turning point occurs where Grenouille on the day of his execution before a crowd of millions, wears all the 13 perfume notes made from virgin’s scent which mesmerize the crowd thereby turning into an orgy. He is never executed, until he slay himself for the burden of the discovery that he is devoid of any smell is not endurable to Grenouille. The blend of art and satisfaction, Perfume is the movie for those who are sensitive enough towards natural beauty and human nature.
