The God of Small Things

Book Review by: vbless

Original Author: Arundhati Roy
Arundhati Roy brings us to the village of Ameyenem, Kerala, India. Reading the book is like being fostered by a
middle class Indian family and being immersed with its exotic culture. It gave me a glimpse of India’s countryside, its political issues,  its caste system and thoughts of an Oxford-educated Marxist. It is not your typical novel, because Roy was able to weave various emotions like love, madness, hope and infinite joy. It is a gathering of man’s senses put into vivid descriptions and you will surely enjoy a new style of describing ordinary things.  Roy won a Booker-Prize for this novel! It's a must have to your bookshelf! :) I read the novel more than twice because I fell in love with the story. Give it a try and you certainly love the story too.
