A Clean Slate

Book Review by: OperaDiva

Original Author: Laura Caldwell
A CLEAN SLATE was published by Red Dress Ink which publishes chick-lit books exclusively and their books are popular in many
major books stores. These chick-lit books are cheap and very interesting to read and are design to inspire every reader with real life stores that happens in everyday situations.
A CLEAN SLATE is one of Laura Caldwell’s best. I could not put it down. The unique life style of this Chicago woman was amazing. Every page was detailed and it was like if I could see a glimpse of every part of Kelly’s life from the time she lost her memory to the time of her glorious recovery into a new life and adventure.
A CLEAN SLATE shows a woman’s devolution to keep moving forward even when it seems impossible. It is a must read and it would inspire anyone who read it. Like her other famous book “Burning the Map”, “A Clean Slate” is shocking and has lot of realistic outcomes and challenges dealing with each character in the book. It is a story about heart break, recovery, and dealing with problems and overcoming them. It has good times and bad times and each page have a challenge and life lessons you will never forget. Kelly was an example of strength and recovery and how life shouldn’t stop just because of a drastic situation. The point of this story is to keep moving forward no matter what life throws at us.
There wasn’t much I did not like about the book. I like the fact that instead of having a wonderful happy ending, Laura Caldwell’s book was from more of a realistic viewpoint. There were good times and there were bad times a true adventure of a woman trying to get back to herself.
Kelly McGraw had it all, a perfectly handsome boyfriend and a well paying career; so she thinks. Kelly later discovers she has completely forgotten five months of her passed during which she finds out that her boyfriend dumped her and is getting married to someone else, that she lost her dream job which was taken from her from yours truly plus having a secret that none of her friends know about. Her best friend Laney reveals to her how much memory loss Kelly really lost in five months time which reveals to Kelly that she has been depressed and immobilized within those five months.
After feeling depressed and confused about her memory loss, Kelly looks at her memory lost as a way to opportunity and as a fresh start. Kelly always dreamed of becoming a cool photographer when she was younger which led her to Cole. Cole is a difficult small business photographer who becomes more amiable and gives Kelly a chance to shoot some of her own pictures at his photography business. Kelly is more confident and life seems to be going her way and now that Kelly is content with her new life, she dreads the thought of remembering her passed again, wondering if her pass will come back to hunt her.
