John Grisham’s ‘
The Innocent Man’ is one of his best novels. It is the true story of how Ron Williamson
was
wrongly accused of raping and murdering a 21 year old cocktail waitress. The story is so stunning that sometimes we get the feeling that this is one of John Grisham’s master legal thrillers. The police department of Ada in Oklahoma spent five fruitless years trying to investigate Debbie Carter’s murder, and then finally arrests Ron Williamson. Although there was no strong and positive evidence against him, he was found guilty at trial and sent to the Death Row. It is heartbreaking to read how he was pulled this way and that in trying to frame him for a murder which he did not commit. One would almost lose their trust in the police and judicial system as you read the novel.
