...Nedim Gursel was cleared of
charges which were brought against him in relation to his writing of the book "
Daughters of Allah". He was accused of inappropriate language but the charges against him have been dropped.
The case of Nedim Gursel is compared to that against Orhan Pamuk in 2006 when Pamuk was accused of anti Turkishness and was later released and the pivotal point was related to the Armenian issue .. later that same year in 2006 Mr Pamuk went on to win the Nobel Prize for Literature for Turkey ... his country.
I was greatly pleased by my Turkish friend who likened my obsession with Istanbul and my writings about Istanbul to that of Mr Pamuk .... I was greatly complimented .. thanks for that Mr Koksal and I am indeed honoured by you and your country .. Turkey .. hard work!
