One day she got a cryptic call from her school telling her to come to the school right away without divulging the reason. Fearing that something happened to her son, Lane, Grace drove across the Mexican border to get to her son immediately. However what met her there was the most corrupted man and also a wanted druglord in Mexico, Hector Rivas. It appeared that Rivas wanted her ex-husband Ted Franklin in exchange for her son. Ted had double-crossed Rivas and ran away with his money. Rivas told her if she couldn’t get his money back he would kill her son. Grace couldn’t comprehend how she could produce the 150 million dollars Rivas was demanding in 2 days. Added to that, she couldn’t contact her ex-husband. There was only one person who could help her and it was her former lover, Joe Faroe who specialized in kidnapping cases. She contacted Joe and he agreed to help her especially when he learned that she was dealing with corrupt politicians, drug cartel lord and catholic spies. When the FBI got involved, Joe knew that they couldn’t trust anyone and they needed their own resources to get Lane back and out of Mexico. Although a judge Grace knew that she would break the law in order to save her son. Grace also confessed to Joe that Lane was actually his biological son. Joe was stunned and furious and he knew that he needed to work harder to get Lane back so that he could have the chance of being a family with Grace.
