Evening in Byzantium

Book Review by: pixl

Original Author: Irwin Shaw
This abstract was translated from Wieczór w Bizancjum
Jesse Craig, an American film maker, aftera break in his proffesional career comes up at the Cannes festival. He meets here
a young journalist Gail, with whom he starts a romance. It proves later that years ago her mother worked for him, with whom he may have had a romance too (unfortunately he doesn't remember it) and she was head over hills in love with him. And now Gail, her daugther, came after him to Cannes, to meet him and to take revange. Knowledge of the truth about Gail and her mother led him to bitter reflection and conclusions, according to which man would be just a sum of coincidence and uncouncious deeds of his biography - even without knowing it man has influence on those whom he met in his life. This way after twenty years man suffers the consequences of the deeds or negligence of the youth.
