Hidajat. The novel tells a story about four childhood best
friends who lives apart
in their adulthood years. The four main characters is Jusuf who lives and work
in Cape Town, Africa; Retno who lives and in Copenhagen, Denmark; Farah who
lives and work in Hoi An, Vietnam and Francis who lives in Kansas City, US and
works as a pianist that makes him travels around the world.
The spice of the story added up when those best friends were
trapped in four side love to one another in High School but never had the
chance to tell their
secret love. Farah was in love with Francis while Francis was high over heels in love with Retno and Jusuf keeps his secret love to Farah.
The journey starts when Francis declares his engagement with a Catalonian girl
to his best friends and invites them to his wedding in Barcelona. Each and every one of them travels
almost around the globe for a chance to finally reveal their secret love and
heading to the same direction; Barcelona.
The novel describe beautifully the places they went into and wrote some useful
traveling tips. This novel is definitely a must read.
