What Happened to all the Generation Xers,
To all the workers and the slackers.
We came as we were,
A generation still unheard.
We’re hiding in our work,
Slaving away like jerks.
Yet it is odd,
Some of us are working at our McJobs.
Our education system sucks,
Because we have no luck.
Finding the jobs which we got our degree,
Instead, choosing the job that doesn’t suit our needs.
Our government doesn’t really care,
On what Gen X has to bear.
Surprisingly on Election Day,
It’s us, not college students, that don’t vote or pray.
We are the bust between echo and boom
But we don’t consume.
The ideas that the yuppies gave us.
Created nothing for us but darkness.
We are stressed beyond belief
Work two or three jobs without any relief.
We have families to feed.
And the only thing we don’t have is speed.
But one of these days we’ll look back.
To not only the 80s but also the 90s flashback.
To the baby Ts, the body piercing, and the lumberjack looks.
By reading it in books.
