Elizabeth Bishop’s Filling
Station is an interesting
poem which has a underlying meaning. After a casual reading of the poem
we may think that it is mere description of a pumping
station. But in depth of it we can see that it is a story of every family where the father and sons are “dirty” and the mother who provides only note of color in the home, who embroidered is omnipresent. She is ‘somebody’ who loves us all; she is also the goddess who keeps the earth clean and arranges all disordered things. For the full analysis of this
