A look into the depth of Coleridge’s Kubla Khan

Book Review   by:mimibanerjee     Original Author: mimibanerjee

Coleridge’s Kubla Khan is an interesting poem which gives the readers an eerie sensation. Like a magnet it attracts the reader toward it. When they begin to look the poem from the psychological point of view the meaning of the poem appears as different. From that point the river in the poem transforms into mental creativity. The pleasure dome symbolizes the art where the caverns represent men’s subconscious mind. The green hill is the dark aspect of men’s life and the woman wailing for her demon lover symbolizes demonic force whereas the damsel with dulcimer is an affirmative figure. The shadow of the pleasure dome will remain as a symbol of pride For more details visit my blog http://mimibanerjee.blogspot.com/
