Listening as I do a lot to the radio I had heard the Laureate/Nobel Seamus Heaney read and discuss his work in the light of his recent stroke and his recovery process is now well under way .... Seamus is preparing for his 70th birthday.
But I incline towards a little bit more of a surfing Sunday now that my PC is again updated and is working well .. and I found on the website ... again, same poet .. Seamus Heaney ... the presenter ended where he began with the lovely folklore notion of inviting the Great Poet home for dinner ...
Heaney discussed his visits to America during the Vietnam War when he was in a bus somewhere between San Francisco Airport and Berkeley University/Ca., and the feelings it aroused in him when he watched the foot soldiers weary on the Vietnam front line.
Seamus continued with some readings for those who are not Celtic let me say ...unlike Americans I decline to make much fuss about it but I did enjoy Heaney's anecdotal story telling about a legend he likes title/St Kevin and The Blackbird and it would suit everyone's taste as discussed and read by

Great references to Dante, WH Auden, Wordsworth, PJ Kavanagh, and again Mr Heaney on Mr Heaney ... a delightful reading on Sunday on the Intelligence website ... Seamus Heaney wrote 12 line poems .. and one was title/The Skylight about the fuss made about getting a skylight put into his house .. and the feelings aroused with wife and family I guess. "We should know better" ... so Mr Heaney claims but then we learn albeit too slowly for some and too fast for others ... its hard to judge public taste and get it right every time.
To conclude Seamus Heaney discussed his book now a best seller on the US Best Sellers ............ Beowulf .. Mr Heaney is an "absolute speaker" and he delights his audience both in person and on the website .. great poets write great poems and are best selling authors ....... is Mr Heaney a Millionaire Poet I wonder ... in America ... I shall keep you posted .... nice work!
