The Fair Tax Book
This book is an easy to understand, often funny, attempt to explain the fair
tax, House Bill 25. With the President's emphasis on tax reform, many in Washington are finally looking seriously at this proposal, which has been around for years. The "Fair Tax" is a value-added tax, or, in other words, a sales tax. At first this sounds awful, but boortz explains the ease and simplicity with which we would adapt. First, know that the IRS would be
completely eliminated! Can you imagine getting your entire paycheck each week? No
longer would there be any income tax, social security tax, medicare tax, death tax, corporate tax, etc. NONE of it. Instead, we, the people, would
pay a sales tax on everything that we
buy new. The rate would be about 23%. That sounds like alot, but we already pay a 20-23% imbeded tax so that the coroporations can pay their taxes. Since they would no longer pay that, the cost of virtually everything that we buy would come down by the same amount. Therefor, we would pay almost the same as now. On top of that, each and every head of household would get a government check at the first of the
month for the amount of tax we would be expected to pay for the necessities of life for a family of that size. In practicality then, we actually would only pay tax on things we CHOOSE to buy, not what we HAVE to buy. This check would come at the first of every month. In actually, this would completely eliminate taxex for the poor of this country! And there would be no tax on anything
used, so that used car, or house, or whatever else would be tax free. There is far too much good about this idea to fully explore it in this venue. The book is easy to read and understand, and I hope everyone goes to their local library or buys it, so that they will in turn spread the word.
