The book was first published in 1998 , reflects David Grossman in my favorite period (a bit before "Someone to run with")
and is
written amazingly . Yair , an average man with no extra self-confidence , sends a letter to Miriam in which he suggests a relation based only on
letters. Miriam accepts the offer and on this moment begins an intensive relation between the two. Yair devotes himself to this unrealistic relation and Miriam does the same. The book is written in a unique manner and that is it''s distinction from other novels. In the first part appears the letters that Yair sends without the letters that Miriam sends back. The reader interprets the relationship in a one-sided way and only in the second part of the book we understand what Miriam answered to each letter. Like in every good book , the main point is the beautiful writing and not only the plot....although there are thrilling surprises in the plot itself. Recommended .
