In this review, I wanted to present to you two charming romance titles. The first highlighted book is called
Soaring Eagle’s Embrace, by the author Karen Kay. It has 384 pages and costs $5.99. I have read a couple of works by this author in the past and it is quite obvious that she loves writing about the Native American lore. Luckily, I am someone who loves reading about it.
This story begins on a mountain in Montana, in the late 1800s. A Caucasian girl by the name of Kali Wallace had made the decision early in life to refrain from marriage, so that she could pursue a career of photography instead. She travels the world with her father, taking pictures of native peoples, to showcase their customs in his books. Kali attempts to persuade the local Blackfeet Tribe to allow her to take pictures of their ceremonies, until a man gets in between her and his people. Not only does the handsome warrior make her blood run hot every time she gets near him, but he also finds his way into her dreams as night visions.
Soaring Eagle, a warrior of the Blackfeet clan, refuses to trust anyone with white skin. Especially, the woman and her father who come to his tribe asking for photographs from his people. Thinking that they might be in danger, he refuses the photograph request, hoping that Kali would then leave the reservation. The spirits that have guided him throughout his life were somehow connecting him towards the strange white woman through her dreams. As fore tolled by a Blackfoot woman in the retelling of an old legend at the beginning of the novel, their love was destined for heartbreak…unless they were able to work through their differences and become one with each other.
All in all, the above title had a very good premise to it, but the scenes where the couple only connected in spirit were a bit too overdrawn and I felt as if the warrior was more of a doppelganger than a real life man at those times.
