Dark Prince is the first book in the author Christine
Feehan’s Dark series. Her dark series are about a race of creatures called
Carpathians.
Carpathians have many of the same powers and weaknesses of
the fabled vampire such as the ability to become the mist, shift form, mind
control, and they become lethargic and can even die if exposed to too much sun.
Vampires are what they become if they kill while feeding and
when this happens they become bloodthirsty killing machines. As a Carpathian
grows older they start to lose their emotions and the ability to see colors.
Once they lose their emotions it becomes increasingly difficult for them to
resist killing while feeding because by killing they are able to feel even if
it is just for a moment.
The only way to get their emotions and ability to see color
back is to find their lifemate and with the decrease in females being born
Mikhail Dubrinsky, leader of the Carpathians, has begun to lose hope that he
will ever find his mate. Just when he feels all is lost Raven shows up like an
angel sent from above. He will need to use all of his charm, wit, and strength
to not only convince Raven that they belong together, but to protect her from
their increasing enemies.
Raven is a gifted psychic and has always used her abilities
to help people in need and more recently finding killers for the police. She
loves being able to help those in need, but she has grown weary of having to go
through deranged killer’s minds and seeing all of the horrible things they have
done. So she decides to take a break for a while and go on vacation. Her
relaxing vacation is short lived, however when she meets Mikhail and once she
looks into his desire filled gaze she knows that her life will never be the
same.
