Revolution 2020 – Book by Chetan Bhagat - Review

Book Review   by:puja     Original Author: Chetan Bhagat

The book named ‘Revolution 2020’
written by the famous English writer, Chetan Bhagat is a story of three
friends, named Raghav (the revolutionary, Gopal (the loser but the good man)
and Aarti (the girl, who is loved by both the boys).

The book depicts how success does
not get into the mind of Raghav who clears an engineering entrance examination
yet takes up journalism to fight the corrupt system of politics, education, and
human trade to bring the guilty to punishment. Gopal, does not clear any
entrance examination and the frustration of losing money and his father, with
the fact that Aarti is drawn towards Raghav, makes him decide to open a
college. The steps he takes towards starting the college raises questions in
his mind at every stage but is suppressed by the powerful and the rich.

Career aspirations bring differences
between Raghav and Gopal. Gopal who also loves Aarti attracts her towards
himself, emotionally, mentally and physically. The psychological facts of the
good and the bad actions when a person is deprived of desires are highlighted
until fate intervenes.

When Raghav unveils the false
means used by Gopal to open the college, Gopal is shattered especially when
Aarti finds out the truth. Gopal’s confessional act of bringing Raghav and
Aarti together as a married couple justifies his guilt. The author states him
as a ‘good man’. Gopal delves into making a career and money.

Set amidst the main issues of
Corruption, Love and Ambition, it portrays human behavioral traits of love,
betrayal and confession leading to forgiveness and solace.
