Nina Grey has lived a life full of love by her father and
has always respected him as the wealthy business man that he is. Unbeknownst to
her, her father has also lived a life full of lies and criminal activities. She
believes her father is dying from injuries sustained during a car crash and
soon after his funeral she finds herself sitting alone on a bench after missing
the last bus. A stranger then introduces himself and offers to share a cab;
Nina gratefully accepts his offer along with the welcome distraction he
provides.
Jared Ryel has always lived in the background, silently watching over and
protecting his Taleh Nina Grey. Until the day arrives when he loses his father
due to the connection he had with Nina's father Jack. Lost in his sadness he
can no longer find any reason to stay away from the one girl he has ever loved.
Knowing it could change her life forever if she found out the truth behind
their connection he cannot help himself when he sees her sitting alone on that
bench just after missing the last bus.
Jamie McGuire tells a story full of danger, passion, and a
love that will tempt both heaven and hell. This is a story that will keep you
guessing until the end and will keep you turning the pages. Nina is stuck
balancing her normal college life with a life that has been hiding in the
shadows since she was born. Jared has given up trying to stay away from her
knowing it could cause her danger but unwilling to back away.
I greatly enjoyed this book with all its ups and downs; I just
could not put it down until I knew how it ended. McGuire creates some great
characters in this series, Providence is the first book in the series, and I cannot
wait to start the next book in the series, Requiem.
