I recently read Little Women by Louisa May Alcott(1832-1888). It is a TERRIFIC book. It outlines the harsh life "from back then". It also outlines love and passion towards friends, family and lovers
I had to read it for an assignment, and I absolutely LOVE it!
It is quite suitable for even a 13 year old. I'm saying this because it does not contain any inappropriate language or scenes.
SPOILER: ***************************
Although, it is quite sad when Beth dies. She dies of Scarlet Fever. You do not expect it, because she gets sick, and then gets well again. But she gets sick AGAIN after. It is quite a sad story in the sense that life is so harsh for the March family, yet they continue to have loss.
*********************************************** END OF SPOILER...
It is quite a good book for students to study. Is it written in an old fashioned way, which can help students learn about writing like so.
It is a very interesting book once you get into it and so students can easily enjoy it!
The book is quite long unless you get the bridged version, which I find not as good at all! If you are struggling to read to real copy, watch the movie first! [I have a review on that!] and then you get the gist of the story, so you can more easily read the book.
The book was actually kind of based around something real. There is also two sequels after this book, Little men and Jo's Boys.
I Haven't read either of the sequels because they were never really as successful as little women. but I may read them one day :)
I really recommend reading this, to broaden you reading capacities and genres. and to learn about some hardships from "back then".
