The book ‘Can Love Happen Twice?’
written by Ravinder Singh is a wonderful love story. It is the true life story
of the author himself. I would say it is the sequel to the first tragedy of his
life, which ended on a slightly positive note. It is a narrative by his three
friends, named Amardeep, Happy and Manpreet.
In this book, his three friends
are invitees to FM Radio channel 93.5’s late night program, ‘Raat Baaki Baat
Baaki’. Their 4th friend, Ravin is also invited but his does not
reach the radio station. On being asked about his absence they tell that he is
in a Rehab Centre. What follows is a flashback of Ravin’s life story.
Ravin is a decent, simple guy who
fell in love with a girl named Khushi, who died in an accident (I Too Had A
Love Story by Ravinder is his debut novel, which is a prologue to this 2nd
novel). With the idea of starting a fresh, he takes up a job in Belgium. He
falls in love again with a girl named Simar. They are all set to marry when
their dreams of settling abroad come way between them, with Simar’s intentions
being unclear to Ravin. When Ravin comes face to face with realty, he leaves
Simar and ends of in a rehab centre.
The story defines the emotional
roller coaster in Ravin’s life. The end is positive as Simar comes to Ravin on
hearing the narration of their love story on Radio. Reading the last words, I
hope Simar and Ravin are together.
The radio’s use has been very
well highlighted in the book. The book gives a cut throat competition to other
true love stories in the market.
Writer, Chetan Bhagat who has written all
his books on his personal life experiences, Ravinder Singh has an equally
simple and emotions detailed in his style of writing.
