TAKE IT EASY

Book Review by: VijaiKSharma

Original Author: Vinod Bhatt (Translation by T.J.Purani)
Humour adds spice to our life.
Stress is a part of life, and beyond a certain level, it is harmful for our health. Humour is one method, or a medicine, to control and manage stress in life. There are laughing clubs in many cities in India and elsewhere also, where people of all age groups laugh to their hearts content, as a part of their daily exercise schedule, especially in the morning hours, and generally in the gardens. Humour also helps in building social contacts. Sense of humour is equally useful, and it helps in taking the problems of life in a lighter way. Best is one, who laughs at himself.
The author says that humour should be placed on a higher pedestal. He gives its 4 elements as surprise, logical, sharp, and not boring.  This book has 46 Chapters contained in seven groups, for humour in conversation, history, society, unsocial elements, remedy, literature, ruler’s   character. Each group contains some long and short stories. The first group gives 18 tales about Ravan, Yudhister, King Vikram and Vetal, Aladdin’s lamp, Bribe etc.  The group on history gives 3 tales about Ashok, Alexander the Great, and Tughlaq. The group for society has 14 tales e.g. a socialist flat, a cricketer’s love letter, fear, honesty, divorce, police force, kidnapping, marriage, bank, etc. The group about unsocial elements has tales concerning servant, copying etc. The group on remedy has 5 tales e.g. about fever, moon, heart attack, death. The group on literature has 2 tales and that on ruler’s character has one tale about a former Indian PM. The sociologist crow, narrates the story of a crow with a piece of bread in its mouth, and the fox trying to fool the crow for releasing the bread, but fox does not get the bread. The author draws the moral of the story that no one wants socialism, but everyone wants bread. This is a humourous book, covering various aspects of life. It is useful for all those, who want to laugh for a while, and make their health and life better, and share these anecdotes with other members of the family and friends. It is a good contribution in the field of humour.
