The title says it all. This is one of the funniest books I've read lately, and you don't need to be a philosopher to enjoy
and appreciate this book (although all of us are philosophers to one degree or another--it is a universal human activity, consciously or unconsciously). This book covers the fields of metaphysics, logic, epistemology, ethics,
philosophy of religion, existentialism, philosophy of language, social and political philosophy, relativity, and meta-philosophy (or the philosophy of philosophy). The book includes a humorous and understandable glossary and a timeline of highlights in the history of philosophy. It does its explication with jokes throughout, both because philosophy is inherently funny, if you think about it, and because many, if not most, jokes turn on philosophical questions or insights of one kind or another.
Don't take my humorless approach to this book to be a harbinger of what's to come, if you are fortunate enough to read it. And you can learn more in one day here than most philosophy majors pick up in a couple of years in school classes. And--did I mention?--it's fun.
