Downsize This, Michael Moore’s first book, was originally published in 1996 by Crown Publishers. Inc. Overall this
book is about the general abuse of an American worker who must tolerate his workplace despite of Corporate America, and its never-ending pursuit of the dollar. He makes constant reference to a multitude of American companies that announce enormous profits, and then layoff considerable numbers of workers.In my opinion, Moore’s
writing style is direct. He straightly exposes problems of American society by using satire and humorous sentences. According the context and the writing skills, Moore is an excellent author. However, I do not care particularly for the extreme stances. The book definitely has some socialist overtones. In addition, he doesn’t really offer the way of solutions.
