The story is set in the future, when the only civilization left on Earth is a small town where people turn "
pretty" after
the Operation when they get sixteen and live in the best high-tech luxury. Like everyone else, Tally Younblood has finally become
pretty and is having all sorts of fun in the Pretty Town. Like everyone else, Tally try her best to become popular and never miss a single party. Like everyone else, Tally try not to think about her ugly life back in the ugly days, befor the Operation, but only to find out that she can't remember any of that, even if she tries. But unlike everyone else, Tally knows that some is wrong, something
really important is really wrong. After reading the letter she wrote to herself as an Ugly, her old memory starts to come back. To find out the truth, Tally has to escape, but the powerful Specials stood in their way. While Tally and her friends fight the Specials, Tally tries her best to do the right thing. But the problem is, Tally's not sure if there is a right thing to do at all.
