Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J. K Rowling
Harry Potter and The Philosophers
Stone is an exhilarating read and J K Rowling shows a real gift for writing for children and adults alike. This book is the first of seven about a boy who as a baby after his parent’s deaths stopped the most evil
wizard
of all time Voldemort and what happens to him after that.
Harry Potter grows up with his Aunt and Uncle the Dursleys and their son Dudley. They all hate him! When Harry is coming up to 11 years of age that is when
things
start to change. Despite his Aunt and Uncle trying to stop anyone contacting him he gets a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and finds out he is a wizard and how famous he is for stopping Voldemort. This book will amaze and astound you whether you are a child or an adult. The characters are brilliant and you really want to see what happens to them and the wonderful world of magic J K Rowling creates you see through Harry’s eyes experiencing it for the first time and you feel just as dumbfounded as he is by it all.
This book the first in the series sets the scene introduces Harry and shows him not only discovering he is a wizard and along with his new friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger trying to stop Voldemort coming back by protecting The Philosophers Stone which produces gold and can give the owner eternal life.
I think this is a treat for all the family and I would encourage you to read this if you like a book that takes you a rollercoaster of an adventure and is about normal people like you and I discovering they can do amazing things!
