Halo the Flood starts onboard the Pillar of Autumn. The ship was forced to hyper jump blindly into space inorder not to lead the covenant to earth. The Pillar of Autumn crash lands on "HALO", an Earth like ring built by the forerunners. The survivors take control of an alien butte that they name Alpha Base. The Master cheif is their only hope. He leads them in and out of battle against the covenant. Then a captured Elite, member of the highest alien race, tells the humans of a wepons "cache." When the Humans enter it it is not a cache. The Humans mistakenly realease a horrible parasitic race called the flood. the Flood take over suitable hosts and use them to fight. The ring called "HALO" that they are on must be destroyed to prevent the Flood from being spread. Guilty spark wants to activate the ring to destroy everything within 25 thousand lightyears. Cortana, Master Cheifs AI, relizes this will destroy earth and many other planets so she decides to only destroy the ring itself. to do this her and Master Cheif must Blow the Pillar of Autumn''s fusion reactor up. Master cheif escapes in a longsword after the explosion but the rest aren''t that lucky. They all perish aboard a covenant ship.
