Artemis Fowl and The Lost Colony
This is the fifth instalment of the Artemis Fowl series and the first to see Artemis Fowl pitted against
another genius mastermind - and a girl at that. However, if you think things might get romantic, think again. This time around Artemis had turned 14(?) and older and wiser than before, though now he has to straddle his parents and his criminal activities at once.
Before reading this book I hadn''t known that demons go to school and live in dormitories. But apprently they do. In previous books it was Artemis who is constantly on a journey of discovery, both of himself and the fairy world. But in this book, the self-discovery continues as Artemis reached puberty though it is somewhat eclipsed by a demon''s own journey of self-discovery.
This chapter is full of inter-dimensional and time-travelling fun. If you are a first time Artemis Fowl reader, this is not a bad book to start with, though I would reccomend reading the first Artemis Fowl to get the gist of the story, because they build upon each other.
At the end of the story though, Artemis gets some surprises of his own. Read this book, even if the only thing you''ll do is translate the secret codes along the bottom of the pages.
